Shropshire law firm beats fundraising record

A local law firm’s participation in an annual national fundraising initiative has seen it raise more than £3,000 for charities across the UK, breaking its own fundraising record in the process.

Shropshire-based PCB Solicitors invited people from across the county to have their wills drawn up for free as part of the Will Aid campaign, which supports the work of nine leading national charities including Age UK, NSPCC and Save the Children.

PCB Solicitors has been involved with the scheme for the past six years, but its latest drive, which saw participants donate to the Will Aid charity in lieu of the usual will writing fee, saw more money raised by the practice across its eight offices than ever before, and more than doubling its proceeds from the previous year.

Julie Griffiths, Wills and Probate Clerk at PCB Solicitors, said: “We are a huge supporter of Will Aid which is a fantastic initiative that not only helps to make people aware of the importance of having a will, but also raises much needed funds for some extremely worthy causes.

“Having a valid and up-to-date will is absolutely vital to ensure that loved ones are provided for after death, and that estates and possessions are handed down to the people of choice. We are delighted to have been able to help local people make sure their assets are protected and to have raised £3120 for some great charities - to have beaten our own fundraising record is just the icing on the cake and we’d like to thank everyone who came along and got involved. The next Will Aid event will be taking place in November, and we look forward to inviting clients, both old and new, to take part.”

PCB Solicitors LLP is a modern partnership, with offices in Shrewsbury, Broseley, Church Stretton, Craven Arms, Knighton, Ludlow, Telford, and Worcester. While they have origins back to 1860, the firm is forward-looking and offers a full range of legal advice for both individuals and businesses, including property, family advice and childcare matters, wills, trusts, probate and estate planning, accident and personal injury, litigation, criminal law and corporate and business law.
