Beadles celebrates 10th anniversary with move to larger premises
Shrewsbury businesswoman Gillian Morris has been running Beadles in The Parade Shopping Centre, in the heart of Shrewsbury for over ten years, and her business has been so successful that she has moved into larger premises within the shopping centre.

Beadles stocks a range of beads and costume jewellery, and giftware ranging from decorative glassware; candles; glass jewellery boxes; vases; plates; bowls; flower-shaped candle holders; contemporary bowls and mugs; fragrance oil and scented sachets... and much more, - in addition to the main focus of beads and related components such as craft wire, threads and pliers.
Gillian Morris has been in business for 30 years, originally starting in the St. Julian’s Craft Centre, before moving to The Parade. She sells a range of jewellery, makes jewellery for her shop and also to people’s own specifications. Beadles has a special area where people can try out their ideas and make bead-related jewellery, and it’s proving to be a great success. Gillian believes one reason the shop is doing so well is the vast range of loose beads, giftware and costume jewellery that she has made using her own designs. She will shortly be running jewellery workshops on the basic of jewellery-making, for adults and children.
Gillian says “I am naturally creative so I make about 50% of the stock, creating jewellery to order. I craft everything from necklaces and bracelets to brooches and ear-rings, I am good with colours, and I enjoy mixing colours that fit in with my customers’ clothes. People just love beads and introducing them to the bright colourful giftware and attractive jewellery in the shop is a real joy, so running the business is a superb lifestyle for me. It’s really rewarding after all my hard work, when people to come into the shop and comment on how beautiful it is, and I would welcome people to call in and chat about their interest in beads and bespoke jewellery”
Beadles is open Tuesday till Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm... and also offers a re-threading service for jewellery.
Philip Freeman, Managing Director of the Parade Shopping Centre said: “I have seen Gill's business grow from almost a market stall to its current premises in over 500 sq.ft of shop. This is a great credit to her and also a wonderful asset to The Parade. I wish her every success in the new shop”.
