Orders double at new Shropshire online farm shop
A new online farm shop, that enables food lovers to enjoy a taste of Shropshire on their plates throughout their entire Christmas Day, is on course for a bumper first Christmas.

Shropshire’s Own, a one-stop online showcase and home-delivery service for some of the county’s finest food producers, has seen its customer orders double in less than a fortnight.
“We’re absolutely thrilled by the surge in orders. Many customers say they are excited by the prospect of sitting down to a Christmas dinner that originates entirely from Shropshire,” said Shropshire’s Own founder Duncan Ellson, of Longden, Shrewsbury.
Food lovers are able to enjoy Shropshire’s finest from breakfast to teatime and sit down to a Shropshire Christmas dinner of free range goose, turkey, lamb or Aberdeen Angus beef with all the trimmings and locally grown veg, followed by award-winning traditional farmhouse-baked Christmas pud or Christmas cake.
“Ordering in advance is also helping customers plan well ahead and it beats the stress and long queues of festive food shopping during the last-minute Christmas rush,” said Mr Ellson.
The 38-year-old former logistics manager for Minsterley Creamery launched the company this Autumn with his wife, Sarah, after he and 500 other workers lost their jobs in a devastating round of redundancies during the summer.
Always a lover of good local food and homegrown produce his idea was to make the wealth of Shropshire farm produce and quality artisan foods more readily accessible to customers in one place and with county-wide delivery.
Shropshire’s Own has also created special festive breakfast, cheeseboard and teatime hampers to help make ordering for Christmas even simpler.
