The start of the year can be difficult financially, particularly on the household budget, that’s why FAIRshare Credit Union has been supporting local people with safe money management for 30 years.

New Year, new finances? Let FAIRshare Credit Union support you!

FAIRshare is a not-for-profit financial cooperative who provides people first banking; even for those who may not be able to access traditional banking methods. Everyone who lives or works in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, South Staffordshire and The Wyre Forest can join.

You can save through your income, benefits or one of FAIRshare’s Payroll Partners.

If you are looking for a loan, to make savings, payroll savings or help with the cost of living, they are there for you.

FAIRshare Loans

FAIRshare promotes responsible lending, which is calculated through affordability assessment.

When you choose to borrow from FAIRshare, they allocate part of each loan repayment to your savings account.  This is known as Save as you Borrow. It means that when you’ve repaid your loan, you’ll also have saved a cash lump sum.  It is one of the great benefits of borrowing from FAIRshare.

They offer loan options where you can borrow from £500 to £7500:

Saver Loan

Borrow £500 – £7500 over a maximum of 60 months and build up savings whilst repaying your loan.

Family Support Loan

Borrow £500 through your Child Benefit over a maximum of 52 weeks.

FAIRshare Saving Accounts

Saving money regularly helps protect you from unexpected financial pressures and helps you manage your money more effectively.  Regular savings soon build up to buy that special present, a holiday or to help with one of life’s emergencies.

Saving regularly helps spread the cost of special occasions like Christmas, holidays and birthdays - saving just £5 a week, would give you £250 at Christmas.

Saving with FAIRshare gives you straightforward saving accounts, flexibility – regularly save as much or as little as you want, from just £1/week or £5/month and easy access to your money with no charges or limit on the number of times you can withdraw your money.

Poor credit history?  No problem – FAIRshare does not carry out any credit checks before opening an account.  Previous CCJs, bankruptcy or insolvency do not prevent you from joining FAIRshare.

It is good to know too, that your savings are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

FAIRshare Payroll Saving Services

FAIRshare partners with local companies to support employee financial wellness.

The Money and Pensions Service advise that supporting employees’ financial well-being offers benefits for employers and employees. FAIRshare supports businesses with Payroll Saving Services. It’s a FREE service to employers and employees and provides payday savings and access to affordable money management.

Cost of Living Support

If you are struggling with money worries and are not sure where to turn for safe advice, FAIRshare encourages you to contact one of the national and local organisations for support.

These organisations all say the same – don’t suffer in silence. The earlier you reach out for support, the easier it will be to find a solution to your problem. Even when it feels hopeless, you can be taken through simple steps so you feel in control of your finances.
