Get creative and make your mark on the new Wellington Civic Quarter
Telford residents are being invited to make their mark on the £8.5 million Wellington Civic Quarter by helping to name a new street.
Work on the new development is progressing well and is due to be complete by this summer.
As part of the Borough Towns Initiative scheme to create a new gateway to Wellington, the site has been completely transformed to provide new and improved facilities, which will include a new library and better leisure and gym facilities.
The former Larkin Way has now been altered beyond all recognition, providing an attractive new link to the town centre.
Residents are now being invited to make their mark on the new development by helping to rename Larkin Way in its new and modern form.
Councillor Eric Carter, cabinet member for Environment and Regeneration, said: “We’re all very excited by the new Civic Quarter which will change the face of Wellington and provide new top of the range facilities.
“And what better way to celebrate than giving residents a chance to name the new link to the town centre, which replaces the former Larkin Way.”
Suggestions are being invited from residents and organisations across the borough.
You may want to name it after a historical figure connected to the town, a past or present Wellingtonian who has strived to improve the town, or there may be some other link to Wellington you think appropriate.
Suggestions should be sent to bti@telford.gov.uk or posted to Corporate Communications, Civic Offices, Coach Central, Telford, TF3 4WZ by 31 March 2011.
