Police warn of possible bogus caller in Market Drayton
Police in North Shropshire today urged residents to be alert to a man knocking on doors and asking for money.
A householder in Grotto Road, Market Drayton reported that a man had called at her home at about 3pm yesterday and showed her a letter which asked for money to help his sick son.
He then told her he didn’t speak English but asked her to buy a painting from him, before finally leaving empty handed and walking towards the alley leading to Portland Drive.
Although no criminal offences have been established, police have warned people to be aware and to contact them on 0300 333 3000 if the man calls at their home and they have any concerns.
The man is described as of Oriental appearance with a thin build. He was wearing green or grey trousers, a navy blue anorak and trainers.
