Investigation launched following robbery in Wrockwardine Wood
Police in Telford are investigating following a robbery at a newsagents’ on New Road in Wrockwardine Wood yesterday.

At just after 2.30pm, an unknown man – wearing what looked like a scarf or bandana covering his face - entered the shop and approached the counter. He pulled out what has been described as a short sword or large knife and ordered the male shopkeeper to hand over money from the till.
The shopkeeper opened the till and put some money into a bag provided by the robber but the robber then said, ‘I want it all’, and demanded more.
A police spokesman said:
“Following the second demand the shopkeeper got further money out of the till – including a bag containing a significant number of coins – and put it into the offender’s bag. Having been given the money the robber then grabbed the bag and made off out of the shop before fleeing down a nearby alleyway.
“The offender has been described as being white, around 5ft 10/11inches tall and as having a slim build. He is also described as wearing dark clothing including a hooded top with light coloured (possibly gold) writing or a symbol of some sort on it.
“The offender also appeared to have splashes of paint or plaster on his dark trousers.
“Although thankfully no-one was harmed during this robbery it is thought that more than £500 in cash was stolen by the offender.
“Investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this incident, and especially anyone who may be able to help them identify the man who committed the robbery.
