Police are appealing for witnesses after two women were allegedly assaulted in Wellington.

Witness appeal after two women are allegedly assaulted in Wellington

The two women were outside Aldi supermarket in Grooms Alley when the incident is alleged to have happened on Tuesday at around 3pm.

As the women both aged in their 20’s waited at the roadside, they were assaulted. They both fell to the ground and suffered scratches and bruises.

Nothing was stolen.

A 20 year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of assault and was taken to Malinsgate Police Station for questioning. He has since been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

Police are investigating the matter and have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “One of the women was waiting for the other when she was assaulted. The other woman came out of the shop and intervened and she was assaulted as well.

“The women suffered slight injuries and attended hospital to be checked over.

“Police are investigating the matter and are eager to trace witnesses to the alleged incident.

“If you saw anything that could help us with our enquiries into the matter, please contact us 0300 333 3000.”
