Woman kicked during attempted robbery in Telford

A woman aged in her 20's was walking along Trench Road in Telford when the incident happened at around 11.20pm yesterday.

She left The Duke public house and as she reached an alleyway at the end of Gordon Road she heard somebody shouting. As she turned around she was approached by a man and a woman.

A verbal altercation took place and the man punched the victim, causing her to fall to the ground. He tried to grab the woman's phone but she held on to it. He then kicked the woman four or five times while she was on the ground. The offender and the woman he was with then made off.

The victim was discovered by police on patrol. She was in an extremely distressed state.

Police are investigating the matter and are keen to speak to anyone with information.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "The woman was extremely distressed following the incident and was found by police officers who were patrolling the area.

"She was taken to hospital and suffered bruising to her body.

"We would urge anyone who has any information in relation to the matter to come forward."
