A Telford & Wrekin Council initiative called ‘Your Money, Your Projects’ is allocating 54 ward Councillors with £1000 each to spend on their community.

Ideas wanted for Telford & Wrekin Your Money, Your Projects initiative

The initiative is seeking ideas and suggestions on where to spend the money. Suggestions need to reach Telford & Wrekin Council by 31st October, to your local Ward Councillor. Ideas could be funding a local group, a community activity or event or a physical improvement in your ward.

If you are unsure who your local Ward Councillor is, or how to contact them go to www.telford.gov.uk/councillors

Town and parish councils and residents can discuss their ideas with their local Ward Councillors on where the money should be spent. This echoes the ethos of a Co-operative Council approach and brings decision making back to grassroots level.

Your Money, Your Projects is based on the principle that a small amount of funding can make a big difference in local areas and that local people know what is needed to improve their communities.

Local Ward Councillors are taking a lead role and are the first point of contact for residents to approach with their ideas and suggestions.

Councillor Shaun Davies, Cabinet Member for Co-operative Council and Partnership, said: “We want local people to suggest where the money should be spent in their area. They are at the heart of the community and we want to listen to them and encourage suggestions. It is their ideas that will come to fruition.

“The time is drawing closer to the end of the suggestion period, so don’t waste your chance and stand up for what’s needed in your area. This is a great opportunity to see something new in your ward. Don’t delay, contact your local Ward Councillor today.”
