A new Development Plan for Telford & Wrekin
Telford & Wrekin Council is beginning the preparation of a new development plan for the borough. The first stage of public consultation launched yesterday.

The Shaping Places plan will set out where new homes, jobs and green spaces are located and how these areas should be planned to meet the needs of residents, employees and visitors up to 2030.
Cllr Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Housing Regeneration & Economic Development, said: “The Shaping Places document is extremely important to the development of Telford and Wrekin right up to 2030.
“Involving residents and others in the consultation at such an early stage is fantastic news and means that the final document will incorporate the wants and needs of those who live in, work in and visit the borough all year round.”
The consultation seeks everyone’s views on eight key questions. These, cover homes, green spaces, jobs, shopping, health, travel and energy to inform the development of the document.
Running in conjunction with the consultation is a photo competition giving entrants the opportunity to think about what is important for the future of Telford and Wrekin and then take photographs to depict this.
Up to three photographs can be entered per person, with some excellent prizes on offer for the winners. Visit the website www.telford.gov.uk/shapingplaces for more details. First prize is a laptop which is kindly being donated by Cap Gemini. Second and third prizes are cameras donated by Makita. A fourth prize of two museums tickets is being donated by the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust.
The Shaping Places leaflet is available from Council offices and main libraries. Alternatively, download a copy now from the website www.telford.gov.uk/shapingplaces or phone 01952 384255 and request a copy.
