Next phase of Southwater masterplan on public display
The latest phase of the masterplan for Telford & Wrekin Council’s flagship Southwater development in the town centre is going on public display at the end of this week.

The consultation takes place in Telford Library on Thursday, Friday 10am till 4pm and Saturday 10am-3pm.
During the three day consultation the public will be able to review the latest Southwater masterplan as well as ask questions and leave their feedback on proposals for a new community focussed building; The Hub, as well as public spaces around Southwater.
The Hub will include a high quality, state of the art library, an enhanced version of the council’s one stop shop known as “First Point”, a contact centre to deal with all telephone enquiries to the Council and an information point promoting Telford as a quality destination for residents, visitors and businesses as well as space for a bar, restaurant and cafe
The consultation precedes the submission of a planning application in April 2012 for The Hub and public spaces, with a decision expected by July.
At the consultation there will also be opportunity to put forward suggestions for naming The Hub and the new Town Park Visitor Centre, which will be open by Easter.
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Kuldip Sahota said: “Our plans for Southwater will result in Telford town centre having a vibrant beating heart as well as a safe, secure and attractive evening economy.
“We are keen to get people’s views on the latest plans for Southwater and would encourage people to attend this week’s consultation and give us their feedback.”
Over the past year, works have been under way to bring in new services such as gas, water and electric in order to prepare the site for development.
