Thieves break into Wellington home
Police officers are investigating following a burglary at an address in Wellington on Friday.
Thieves broke into the property on King Street by forcing open a kitchen window at the rear of the house sometime between 5.30pm and 8.45pm, while the occupants were out.
Once inside the house the thieves carried out a thorough search of several rooms before stealing a number of items including a Technika television worth around £280 and a significant amount of jewellery with a total value of more than £750.
The jewellery stolen included two pocket watches, a gold ring with sapphires on it, two rings with diamonds on and a gold plated watch with a manual wind up mechanism.
Investigating officers believe the offenders may well have left the property via the front door and therefore they are very keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious on King Street on Friday night.
