Man arrested over Shrewsbury firearms incident
A man has been arrested in connection with a firearms incident outside a Shrewsbury nightclub.
The 24-year-old was arrested at an address in Shrewsbury this afternoon following a police appeal for information.
Police were investigating reports that a man brandished a handgun outside C21 in Abbey Foregate during the early hours of June 25.
Earlier this week, they issued a CCTV picture of a man who was in the vicinity at the time who may have witnessed the incident. They urged him to make contact and appealed for information concerning his identity.
Detective Constable Chris Thomas, the investigating the officers, said today: "Following a good response to our appeal and subsequent inquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
"He is currently in custody at Shrewsbury police station where he will be questioned about the incident."
DC Thomas thanked all those who came forward with information following the appeal.
