Power company donates money for local NHS life-saving equipment

The lives of cancer patients at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust could be saved – thanks to a new Resuscitation Trolley that has been funded by Western Power Distribution.
The electricity distribution company donated £1,400 to the Lingen Davies charity, who have in turn used the money to buy the crucial piece of kit, which will be used in the Chemotherapy Day Centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
A resuscitation trolley is used for cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and contains valuable equipment in the case of a patient going into cardiac arrest. The model bought with Western Power’s donation has already been delivered to the Chemotherapy Day Centre – which is part of the hospital’s £5 million Cancer Centre. The Centre is due to fully open next month, though the Chemo Day Centre is already up and running.
Louise Cliffe, Lingen Davies’s Acting Fundraising Manager, said: “I would like to thank everyone at Western Power Distribution for their very kind donation, enabling us to purchase a new Resuscitation Trolley for the new Cancer Centre. We are very grateful to them for their support."
Martin Dwyer, WPD’s team manager for the Telford area, added: “We are proud to have been able to provide lifesaving equipment for the centre. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and it is fantastic to know that our funding will help patients in this area.”
The Lingen Davies Cancer Centre Appeal raised £3.2m towards the costs for building a new Cancer Centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, which will make a huge difference to local people receiving treatment for cancer in Shropshire and Mid Wales.
The Charity is currently raising funds to furnish and equip the new Centre before it opens next month. For further information please contact the Appeal's Office on 01743-492396.
