Firefighters clear flood water from A49 at Marshbrook
Firefighters with specialist skills and equipment from Shrewsbury have been in attendance on the A49 at Marshbrook assisting with clearing excess flood water from a hazardous section of road in time for the commute home for drivers.

Principal Officer Andy Perry said “It was important the Service works in collaboration with other agencies to ensure the safety of the people in Shropshire. The agencies worked to clear this stretch of road in time to alleviate the need for the carriageway to be reduced to one lane during the hours of darkness due to the increased risk this posed to drivers at night.”
Shropshire firefighters have also been helping colleagues tackle serious floods which swept the West Country.
A total of 20 “on call” firefighters from Shrewsbury, Baschurch, Prees, Clun and Craven Arms used the county’s High Volume Pump appliance in Weston Super Mare to join colleagues from Avon and Somerset and South Wales in fighting the flood waters.
The highly trained Shropshire crew took more than 13 hours to pump water out of a field to prevent it flooding homes in a cul de sac in the village of Worle.
