Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses after a road rage incident in Oakengates at the weekend.

Police appeal after road rage incident in Oakengates

At just before 2pm on Sunday 16 December, as the 22-year-old male driver of a silver Peugeot 206 drove from Holyhead Road in Ketley into Oakengates, he became aware of a silver car - possibly a Vauxhall Vectra - that was following him.

The silver car pulled in front of the victim's car and came to a sudden halt causing the victim to also stop his car. Two men then leapt out of the silver car but the victim managed to drive off.

The two men got back into their car and started following the victim once again.

A police spokesman said:

"Having given chase to the victim, the two men pulled their silver car alongside the victim's and one of them hit the front of the victim's car with a metal pole.

"However, before the man could cause any significant damage the victim pulled into the Shell Petrol Station on Quarry Lane.

"At this point the silver vehicle sped off and was not seen again.

"Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen any part of this incident so they can establish exactly what did occur.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has information about it, is asked to contact police in Telford on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 374S 161212.

"Alternatively, please remember Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you'd rather leave information without getting directly involved yourself."
