Police in Telford are investigating after a 16-year-old girl was assaulted close to Legges Way in Madeley yesterday.

Police investigate assault on teenage girl in Madeley

At around 4pm, the teeanger was walking along the footpath next to the underpass on Legges Way when she saw three unknown men who were stood talking to each other.

One of the men asked the victim to hand over her phone and the victim responded by saying 'no'.

A verbal altercation then took place - including an argument between two of the three men about whether they should take the girl's phone - before the girl started to walk away from the men.

Suddenly, and without any prior warning, one of the men hit the victim full in the face. Despite being shocked by the punch, the victim managed to run away from the scene and make her way home before calling the police.

One of the men involved in this altercation is described as being white, aged around 18, with a normal build and as being roughly 5ft 6inches tall. More significantly, he is also described as wearing a black tracksuit with a large gold ‘Adidas' logo on the front of the jacket.

The other two men involved in this incident are also described as being white and in their late teens.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who believes they may know any of the three men involved, is asked to contact police officers in Telford on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 530S 230113.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you'd rather leave information without identifying yourself.
