Thieves have stolen around £500 pounds and a number of other items from a Telford charity during a burglary in Donnington.

Thieves target charity during burglary in Donnington

The burglary occurred on the St Georges Road Industrial Estate in Donnington sometime between 4pm on Monday and 8.30am on Tuesday.

Thieves broke into the ‘Chairs and Spares’ charity premises by smashing open a door.

Once inside the premises they carried out a thorough search before forcing open the doors to a cupboard and stealing a small safe from inside. They left the scene, taking the safe with them.

A police spokesman said:

“This is an unusual incident as the business targeted is a social enterprise charity that recycles and reuses furniture and household appliances to benefit people with low incomes.

“It appears that around £500 in cash was in the safe at the time it was stolen along with a number of work related documents and a Samsung mobile phone.

“Police officers investigating this incident are keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have information about it, especially anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the St Georges Road Industrial Estate area on Monday night or early on Tuesday morning.

“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 66S 090413.

“Alternatively, pleased remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather pass on information without identifying yourself.”
