Thief steals safe from Wellington charity shop
Police officers in Telford are investigating after a safe was taken from the cellar of a charity shop in Wellington.

The incident occurred at the Severn Hospice shop in Market Square yesterday.
Sometime between 9am and 5pm, while the shop was open for business, it appears an unknown individual entered the shop and then sneaked unnoticed through a door that leads to the cellar.
Once through the door the thief has somehow managed to remove a small safe from the wall and then flee the scene with it.
There is no sign of any forced entry so it appears the thief must have left the shop via the front door with the safe.
As the theft was only discovered when the staff went to close the shop at just after 5pm, at this stage it is not known exactly when the theft took place.
A police spokesman said:
“This is an unusual incident as it is rare that burglaries or thefts like this happen when a shop is open. Staff at the shop believe that around £250 – plus a number of business documents – was in the safe when it was stolen.
“As this happened during the course of the day we believe there may be potential witnesses to this incident and therefore we are very keen to speak to anyone who feels they may have information that could aid our investigation.
“Police officers investigating this theft are also looking at possible CCTV opportunities from Wellington town centre and from the shops around the one that was targeted.
“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 503S 180413.
“Alternatively, pleased remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather pass on information without identifying yourself.”
