The statutory position will also assume the role of Assistant Director for Health and Wellbeing – with the support and agreement of the Faculty of Public Health.

The post will report to Paul Taylor, the Council’s Director of Health, Well-being and Care.

Liz Noakes is joining Telford & Wrekin Council from Cheshire West and Chester Council, where she is currently Associate Director of Public Health.

She has a range of experience in the Health Sector, including being Director of Public Health at Cheshire West Primary Care Trust between 2002 and 2006.

She has previously worked as a Public Health Specialist at both South Cheshire Health Authority and Shropshire Health Authority.

Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet lead for public health, said: “We feel we have made an excellent appointment to oversee our new responsibilities for public health. Liz has both extensive experience and an excellent reputation in the public health sector and we are looking forward to her joining the authority.”

The appointment was made jointly with Public Health England in line with national guidance.
