A young woman from Shropshire has been injured after she fell down a cliff at a campsite in Wales.

The 22-year-old, thought to be from Shrewsbury, was airlifted to hospital after falling 40ft when she left her tent to go to the toilet in the dark and became disorientated.

She was discovered at the foot of the cliff after the group of friends she was camping with became concerned for her welfare after she failed to return to their tent at the Cae Du campsite near Rhoslefain.

Emergency services were called to the remote location at around 2.30am yesterday, a rescue helicopter was sent to the scene and the injured woman was flown to Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor.

It’s understood the woman is in a stable condition with her family travelling from Shropshire to be with her.
