Man charged with Newport building society robbery
A 49-year-old man has been charged with a robbery that occurred at the Britannia Building Society on Newport High Street on 29 June.

Martin Dawson was arrested at around 5pm on Tuesday night by armed officers from West Mercia and Staffordshire Police after a car he was driving was stopped in Truro Place, Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent.
Mr Dawson has remained in custody since his arrest and last night was charged with the robbery in Newport as well as four other offences.
The other offences are a separate robbery in Macclesfield in August, two counts of possessing a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and one count of escaping lawful custody.
Mr Dawson will now be appearing at Telford Magistrates Court later this morning.
Detective Inspector Billy Scott, from CID in Telford, said:
“It is pleasing to report that Mr Dawson has now been charged with various offences as we had been searching for him for some time. However, there is still a huge amount of work to do and officers will continue to work hard on this case.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came forward with information about Mr Dawson’s whereabouts after he was featured on Crimewatch on BBC One on Monday night.
“In addition, I’d also like to thank the team at Crimewatch for featuring our appeal about Mr Dawson and helping us progress the investigation to this stage.”
