Man rescued from River Severn in Bridgnorth
A man was rescued from the swollen River Severn in Bridgnorth last night.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Bridge Street in Low Town shortly after 11.40pm.
Overhanging tree branches were all that stopped the man in his thirties from being swept away after he fell into the river.
The man was up to his shoulders in water holding onto the branches.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man was wedged in among the bushes and branches and was holding on. He was pulled from the water by the fire service. He was checked over by ambulance personnel and was found to have a low temperature but all other observations were normal. He was taken to Princess Royal Hospital.”
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bridgnorth, Tweedale and Shrewsbury, including the water rescue unit attended.
