Woman rescued from River Severn in Bridgnorth
A woman was rescued from the River Severn in Bridgnorth early this morning after she slipped and fell into the water.

The alarm was raised at around 3.50am when a nearby resident reported hearing shouts for help near the river in Bridgnorth.
Police officers arrived within a few minutes and although hampered by foggy conditions, quickly located the woman in a stretch of the river near Mill Street.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “Two officers entered the water with safety equipment, secured the woman and managed to get her safely onto the bank.”
The woman, believed to be in her fifties, was taken by ambulance to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford suffering from hypothermia.
The police spokesperson added: “Conditions were foggy and near freezing at the time. Fortunately, a local resident became concerned after hearing shouts and immediately alerted the police.
“It appears the woman had fallen in but remained fairly close to the waters edge. With the river level having substantially dropped during the past week or two, officers were able to secure her, safely enter the river themselves and help her to safety.”
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Crews from Bridgnorth, Tweedale and Shrewsbury including the rescue boat also attended.
