Police are appealing for witnesses after a couple were robbed at knifepoint whilst walking with a young child in Telford.

Couple with child robbed at knifepoint in Telford

The incident happened in the Madeley area of Telford on Friday at around 2.40pm, when the victim, a 23-year-old woman, her partner and child were walking through the subway between Parkway and Mound Way.

They were approached by two men walking from the direction of Woodside who asked for a lighter. When the victim went to hand them a lighter, one of the men brandished a knife while the other man grabbed a bag from the top of her son's pushchair.

Both of the men then ran in the direction of Woodside. Nobody was injured during the incident.

The stolen bag is red in colour and 'leather-look' with silver buckles. It contained around £200.

The first offender is described as 20 to 25 years old, mixed race, of a stocky build with a round face. He was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit with a light blue beanie hat that had a red Nike symbol on it.

The second offender is white, around 17 to 20 years old and approximately 5 foot 8 tall. He was wearing blue jeans and blue Nike Air trainers.

Anyone with information or who saw two men of these descriptions in the area at the time, is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 386S of Friday 27 March.

Alternatively, information can be given to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org
