The Safer Roads Partnership have announced details of nine speed enforcement sites they will be launching across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

More speed enforcement sites to be introduced

They say that the new sites are being introduced in response to either the level of collisions that have occurred or concerns from local residents about the speeds being travelled. The new sites are a combination of the Safer Roads Partnership core sites and community concern sites programme.

The new sites are:

A458 Shrewsbury Road, Cressage (30mph)
B4176 Upper Ludstone (60mph)
B4363 Oldbury (30mph)
Uffington, Shrewsbury (30mph)
Legges Way, Madeley, Telford (30mph)
Dale Road, Coalbrookdale, Telford (30mph)
Dale Acre Way, Hollinswood, Telford (30mph)
A41 Standford Bridge (60mph)
B5062 Roden (30mph)

Sites can be ‘static’ or ‘fixed’ where there is a permanent speed camera or ‘mobile’ where a speed camera van, motorbike or portable unit can operate from.

Vicki Bristow, Communications Manager at the Safer Roads Partnership said “We are launching these sites in Shropshire and Telford to either address the high level of concern in each of the local communities or to combat those routes that are suffering from collisions. We hope that the presence of a speed camera will encourage drivers to change their behaviour and drive at a lower, safer speed.”

Speed data will be collected while the sites are in operation to assess the impact upon traffic speed and driver behaviour.
