Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in the Ditherington area of Shrewsbury on Tuesday afternoon.

Robber attempts to steal Shrewsbury Woman's handbag

Between 4.40pm and 5.15pm on 16th February a 28 year-old woman was walking along a footpath (at the rear of The Maltings) between Greenfields and Wingfield Close when she was approached by an unknown man.

The man attempted to unsuccessfully grab the victim's handbag and kicked her in the leg before he left the area on foot towards the path to Greenfields Park.

The offender is described as a white man of around 20 years of age, approximately 5' 6" in height of a stocky build. He had blond hair and is described as wearing a black hooded Adidas top with three white stripes along each arm, a light green t-shirt, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with three white stripes down each leg and black shoes.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information. Please call 101, quoting incident number 0561S of Tuesday 16 February.
