Bomb Disposal Experts called to British Ironworks Centre in Oswestry

Police and Army Bomb Disposal Experts were called to the British Ironworks Centre in Oswestry this afternoon after a package of explosives were discovered and reported to the Police.
The package was obtained through the company’s “Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife Campaign”, where by the organisation are working closely with all UK police constabularies to remove as many weapons off the streets at possible targeting 100,000.
All weapons collected are being used in relation to the creation of the “UK’s Monument against Knife Crime and aggression” named by visitors as the “Knife Angel”.
The police responded quickly with five vehicles and motorbike patrol attending the site.
The decision was quickly made to call in the army bomb disposal team, who will potentially look at a controlled explosion on site as the substance is potentially considered too dangerous to transport.
The centre were commended by Police Official Sergeant Dave Clement, who commented, “The Centre acted quickly and efficiently, cordoning off the area and ensuring the package (believed to contain nitro glycerine) could pose no danger to visitors or staff, we commend them on the swift action taken. Few businesses would have responded so quickly in ensuring any risk no matter how small is averted.”
The centre has made the decision to close for the remainder of the day.
