Trailer carrying cattle overturns on A5 eastbound in Shrewsbury
The A5 eastbound was closed this morning after a vehicle and trailer carrying livestock overturned.
A Land Rover and livestock trailer with cattle inside overturned on the A5 eastbound from Dobbies island towards Emstrey island at around 9.15am.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "There are no human injuries however the A5 eastbound was closed to protect the livestock and prevent them from getting on the carriageway.
"A specialist animal handling team from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended along with a local farmer. A vet also attended to ensure the welfare of the cattle.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crews made the vehicle safe, whilst their animal rescue team assisted with transfer of four cows to a second trailer.
The road reopened at 11.41am after the vehicle and trailer was recovered.
