Arrests made following disturbance in Oswestry town centre
Police have moved to reassure the public following a disturbance on Arthur Street in Oswestry town centre on Saturday afternoon.

The incident, which occurred shortly after 2 pm on 31 January, saw a swift response from local law enforcement after reports of a physical dispute between two groups.
A Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) from the Oswestry Central team was the first to arrive at the scene, where they encountered an escalating confrontation involving multiple individuals.
During the initial intervention, several assaults were observed firsthand. One male suspect was immediately detained on the ground, while a second individual remained under close observation as backup arrived from the Oswestry and Ellesmere Safer Neighbourhoods Team and the Oswestry Response B Team.
Following on-scene enquiries, officers arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of assault. Both individuals were taken into police custody, where they remain while further investigations into the circumstances of the brawl continue.
West Mercia Police expressed their gratitude to the bystanders who alerted authorities to the trouble.
A spokesperson for the force also highlighted the vital assistance provided by the Oswestry Town Street Rangers, who supported the lone PCSO until additional units could reach the location.
In a statement released following the arrests, officials emphasised that the altercation is being treated as an isolated incident. They confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the wider community and thanked residents for their patience while Arthur Street was cleared.
